FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO GET A PIERCING?

If you are under 16 you need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, 16 or over you need to bring Photographic I.D.  We do have age restrictions on certain piercings, contact us for further details.

CAN I BRING MY CHILD TO HAVE THIER EARS PIERCED?

Yes, we love our younger clients but there are some things to be aware of.  We only pierce lobes age 8 and over.  We will only pierce your child if their lobes are suitable to support a healthy piercing and they are 100% confident and happy to have it done.  It is also important that they are aware that it will hurt a little bit but they are in full control and we are here to make their experience as happy and exciting as their first piercing should be.

DO YOU NUMB THE PIERCING?

No we don't, any numbing agent carries a risk of skin irritation or allergic reaction.  They also tighten the skin meaning any marks we have used can shift later when the skin relaxes ending with an incorrect placement.  There is also the danger that they will get into the piercing channel and hinder the healing process.  We understand that you may be a little nervous and that piercings hurt, if only for a couple of seconds, but we are here to make the experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

WHAT JEWELLERY CAN I BE PIERCED WITH?

All the jewellery we use for your initial piercing is sterilised by us on site, first in an ultrasonic bath and then autoclaved in a vacuum steam cleaner.  We pierce with ASTMF 136 implant grade internally threaded titanium as standard.  We stock a wide range of options from beautifully simple ball ends to gem clusters.  We can also pierce with Neometal, Anatometal, Industrial Strength and Juniper pieces, including 14 and 18 karat gold ends.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY PIERCING?

We advise to only use a Sterile Isotonic Saline Spray.  While it is possible to make a sea salt solution at home, we don't recommend regular cleaning with it as it is not sterile and very difficult to achieve the correct ratios, which can be problematic for the healing process.  We provide written and oral instructions for aftercare at your appointment.

Please refer to the aftercare section for further information here.

WHAT CAN I GET PIERCED?

Currently due to Covid-19 we are not offering any oral piercings.  Please also remember that we are all wonderfully different and most piercings are anatomy dependant so not suitable for everyone.  We will only pierce you if the area is suitable to support a healthy piercing, there is always other options we can discuss with you.

WHAT IS DOWNSIZING?

Some piercings are pierced with a longer bar or larger sized ring to allow for any swelling.  Downsizing is switching the post or ring to a smaller one for a snugger fit to prevent future problems.  This is done after any swelling has subsided, usually 6-8 weeks after your initial piercing and needs to be done at the studio.  Your piercer will advise you of this as it depends on the piercing.

I'VE GOT A BUMP, WHAT DO I DO?

As it is important to assess what is causing the bump before giving you information on how to solve the problem, it is best that you come up to the studio so we can take a look at it for you.
